SICADA – Site Characterization Database
All scientific information about the bedrock and ecosystem characteristics are stored in the database SICADA.
Over the years, the development of SICADA has resulted in a multitude of user applications and support systems for managing data. In addition to pure measurement and analysis data for several areas of science, the database also handles metadata and supports certain work processes. Today SICADA also links to several other systems and databases, for modelling and presentation, in SKB's environment.

Data is stored in the following standard hierarchies:
- Biota
- Chemistry
- Engineering
- Environment
- Geography
- Geology
- Geophysics
- Geotechnics
- Hydrochemistry
- Hydrology
- Material; properties, analysis
- Meteorology
- Oceanography
- Rock Mechanics
